An application for children that boasts its security systems has proved … not completely secure.
Messenger Kids, not available in India, is a Facebook messenger aimed mainly at the youngest. Its characteristic feature was to be security, requiring, among others parent’s acceptance of the child’s contacts. Unfortunately, as it happens in life, it turned out that the application contains a lot of errors, and one of them allows you to easily and effectively bypass all the protection promised by the producers.
All thanks to the fact that children using Messenger Kids can easily join other people in a group conversation. The problem is that such people do not need to be verified in any way by the parents of other children participating in the discussion. Thus, the main premise of safe parental control was completely omitted.
Facebook has admitted that there is such a “technical problem” and has now closed group chats. However, it does not intend to completely abandon application development.
