Why is there no WPS on the iPhone?

WPS stands for WiFi Protected Setup and is supported by all common routers by default – usually with a button or a switch. WPS enables you to connect a device to the network without entering the WLAN password.

The problem with this standard, however, is security. During the authentication process, WPS uses an 8-bit pin code that is prone to hacking . By using so-called ” brute force attacks “, third parties can gain access to your network from outside. Once a third party has access to your network, they can read out various passwords and steal your data.

Since WPS can be classified as questionable from a security point of view, Apple does not use this standard for the iPhone.
