Where does Steam save games?

Windows 10 allows you to install any software anywhere on your hard drive. Windows automatically recommends installing on drive C, where the whole system is installed by default, but this does not mean that you need to install all applications or games there.

The same is true for the Steam app, you could have installed it on your C drive or anywhere. If for some reason you do not remember where you installed Steam or do not know where Steam saves installed games, then you can easily check it.

Where does Steam save games?

If you have the game installed, finding the Steam folder is really easy. Open Steam and go to your library. Right-click the game and select Properties from the context menu.

  1. In the Properties window , switch to the Local Files tab and click Browse Local Files . File Explorer will open where the local game files are stored. Check the path in the location bar to see where your Steam folder is and where the selected game is saved.
  2. In the same menu, you can also move the folder with the previously installed game by selecting the move installation folder option .
  3. When installing a new game, you can always choose the location where it will be saved. Before installing, a window will appear asking where to install the game. The default location is where Steam was installed.
