Modern Android smartphones have efficient processors, advanced communication and navigation standards, high-quality displays, cameras and other elements that provide many useful functions. At the same time, it relentlessly “eats” battery charging, so that in some cases smartphones can be called almost stationary, because they need to be regularly connected to a power source. Today we will tell you about some tricks that will significantly reduce the battery load on your Android smartphone.

It would be desirable immediately to note that the considered burglaries apply to almost all smartphone models. Only on some of them the location of some elements may differ.

Energy saving mode

In Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Google has added the Doze feature that puts the phone into sleep mode and does not use battery power on the screen, except for urgent notifications (for example, text messages). However, there are other similar functions. For example, on Samsung Galaxy S10 you can limit display brightness, processor speed and network usage.

Wi-Fi is your best friend

Many users prefer to turn off wireless interfaces when they are not using the Internet, leaving the cellular data network to work. However, the load that the Wi-Fi module puts on the battery is much less than what is needed for the communication module to work. Of course, it is not always convenient to remain without the possibility of calling, but if you most often use communicators to communicate or do not always need a phone (for example, you are not allowed to use it at work or during a long subway ride), Wi-Fi will help you stay connected and save several percent battery charge. Remember to turn off automatic scanning of new networks nearby, then the whole procedure will not make sense, moreover, remember that Wi-Fi works only in a limited place.

Turn off location tracking

Location services are certainly useful, but they drain the battery quickly. Also, let’s be honest, we don’t use them all the time. Turn them off to save energy and use only when it is really necessary.

Reject the voice assistant

As in the previous paragraph, the voice assistant function is far from the one we use every minute. If you have Google Assistant, go to assistant settings and turn it off. If you use a Samsung smartphone, the same procedure can be done with Bixby.

Adjust the screen brightness

You probably don’t always need a device to get the best screen brightness. Go to display settings and reduce screen brightness. Your eyes and battery will thank you. You can also turn on the “Automatic brightness” option to let the smartphone “decide” what brightness to set depending on the lighting.

Check wallpapers and widgets

It would seem, what is the relationship between these elements and the charge of the smartphone? Most direct! Live wallpapers and widgets “eat” much more battery power than static. Yes, it looks less beautiful, but because we are not talking about beauty, but about saving. So the choice is yours: beauty or functionality.

Adjust the sound and vibration

Constant notifications from instant messengers, games and social applications may not cause much discomfort. But every such “squeak” makes the speaker, sound module and device memory work. Yes, each “squeak” is irrelevant, but during the day it can be several dozen or even hundreds. Choose which programs are really important to you and which programs can do without sound notifications. The same applies to vibration. You can reduce its intensity without loss, which also saves battery power.

Monitor installed applications

Updates to some programs can be quite heavy, which will adversely affect the amount of traffic and the battery level. You can update the program only when connected to Wi-Fi.

It would also be good to follow free applications with embedded ads. In March this year, it was noticed that some programs were involved in fraudulent programs when they played video in the background after installing the application. Check how much traffic each application spends, and if you suspect, take care of the unwanted program.

In addition, other programs running in the background may be responsible for low battery. We have discussed this in detail earlier. We recommend that you read this article to resolve your fast-draining battery problem once and for all.
