Distribution Management System
A Distribution Management System (DMS) is a collection of applications designed to monitor & control the entire distribution network efficiently and reliably.
DMS is used for tracking and maintaining the inventory (i.e. Prepaid/Post paid SIM cards, Prepaid Vouchers, Handsets etc) that is sold to the end customer through different sales channels.
DMS – Basics
Distribution Channel: Distribution is the process of making a product or service available for use or consumption by a consumer .Distribution of products takes place by means of channels. Channels are sets of interdependent organization involved in making the product available for consumption.
Modern Trade:
Modern Trade means that the producer selects minimum number of intermediaries for selling the products to the end customers.
Example: Reliance Fresh, Big bazaar, Vishal Mega Mart.

COCO (Company owned company operated)

FOFO (Franchise owned franchise operated)

Classic Channel:
Classic Channel means that the producer selects many number of intermediaries for selling the products to the end customers.

Distributor
- Business entity that has office or operation in operator’s coverage area.
- Have own distribution and capability to help operator establish and expand their distribution network.
Point Of Sales (Retailer)
- Juristic person or individual that has trade license to operate retail business that currently operate its own business in operator’s coverage area.
Fleet on Street
- Communicates between DTR (Distributor) and RTR (Retailer)
- Collects the goods from DTR and send them to RTR and vice-versa.
