Situation
Permanently delete one or more Gmail accounts – Although Gmail is the best email platform out there, there is also a category of people who disagree with this. Whether it’s promotional emails, different labels, or because you’re unsure of your security, Gmail may not be the best email option for any user.
But there is an easy way to delete your account, unless you use Google services and other platforms (such as YouTube or Google search), it is best to check that the rest of the information will not be deleted.
Backup
Before you permanently delete your Gmail account, there are a few things to consider and check:
- If your Gmail account is associated with any social media accounts, you will no longer be able to recover or reset those accounts. These include Facebook, Youtube, iTunes, Instagram, etc. Before you delete your account, create an alternate email account to move everything there.
- If you are an email subscriber to services you would like to continue reading, you will also need to change the information in those accounts
- Any contacts or information stored in Gmail will be lost. It is a good idea to download the data and archive it elsewhere.
- Deleting your Gmail account will not release your username. So, if you ever want a new Gmail account, you’ll need a new username.
- Deleting your Gmail account will not delete your Google account, so you will still be able to access Drive and other Google features if you wish.

Solution
Steps to follow
1. Logging in to your account
Sign in to your Google Account using myaccount.google.com and click Sign in. Enter your Gmail account details and click Sign in again .
2. Access your account settings:
On the My Accounts page, find Data & personalization . This is usually on the Left or top of the page, depending on the screen size. Click on “Delete a service or your account“.

3. Choose the products you want to delete:
Google gives you two options: either delete a particular product or your entire account. If you just want to get rid of your Gmail account, click Delete products.
You will be prompted to re-enter your password and then login.
4. Delete your gmail account:
Google will show you the accounts attached to your name. Choose your Gmail account and click on the trash.
You will be prompted to enter a new primary email address and current password. Before you proceed, you will receive a final warning about what involves deleting your account.
If you’re ready to continue, click Delete Gmail.
5. Open the new account
You will receive a message asking you to open an email that has been sent to the new primary email address. At the bottom of the message, click the ” OK, Got it ” button .
6. Confirm status
You will receive a confirmation email. Check the details and click on the confirmation link. A page will open asking you if you want to confirm deleting your Gmail account.
Enter your password and click on “Confirm“. Finally, you will receive a confirmation message that the operation was successful. It takes some time and a lot of pages to go through, but deleting your Gmail account is not at all difficult.
