If you have several Android devices at home and you need to transfer files quickly and conveniently between them, there is nothing easier than doing it via Wi-Fi on a local network.
We only need one ES Explorer file manager. By the way, everything that will be said in this article can be done using the same Solid Explorer or MiXplorer . You can find more information about them in reviews of the best file managers.
In addition, I can’t help but advise you to pay attention to our previous articles on how to transfer files between your computer and Android and remote computer management:
And now we go to the instruction itself. Using ES Explorer, you can not only send files via Wi-Fi between devices, but also manage them completely (delete, display, edit, etc.) on one gadget from another. Therefore, we will talk in two ways at once.
Method 1: Easily send files via Wi-Fi
1. Install ES Explorer on your smartphone or tablet: the one to which you want to transfer files, and the one that will receive them. Open this application on both devices.
2. Select the files you want to transfer and click the More button in the bottom right (on tablets) or the three dots in the top right (on smartphones). In the list of options, click “send” (there are 2 such items, so remember that you must choose “send” starting with the lowercase “o“).
3. The scanning of devices on the local network will start.
4. After scanning, select the selected phone or tablet and click “send” in the bottom right corner.
5. The file transfer notification will appear on the smartphone or tablet of the receiving device. Click OK.
6. Then select the folder where you want to save them and click “OK“.
7. Sending will start and a message will appear at the end indicating that the files have been successfully transferred.
Okay, we took care of it. But it is much more interesting to manage files from one Android device to another. This can also be done using ES Explorer.
Method 2: Connect to Android from another smartphone or tablet
Remember that at the beginning of this guide I recommended reading the article on our website, where you will learn how to connect to Android on your computer. In it, we first created an FTP server, i.e. we opened access to files on a smartphone or tablet, and then connected to the computer. Now we will do the same, but now we will connect from another Android device.
You must first start an FTP server on your device. Last time we did it with the help of my FTP server easy application. You can still use it, but since we already have ES Explorer installed, we will do everything through it. And in this task it is not worse than my FTP server.
1. Set svayp on the left edge and in the “Network” section open “Remote Access“.
2. You can start the server right away. To do this, click “Enable“.
3. The server will start and its address will appear on the screen.
4. But (if you want) you can set the following parameters: username and password. To do this, click “Settings” below.
5. Select the “Manage account” item.
6. Invent and enter your username and password, then click ‘OK‘.
7. Now go to the device from which you will be connecting to the newly created server. In the sidebar select “FTP“.
8. Click the “New” button in the bottom right corner.
9. Select “ftp“.
10. Enter the server address (see step 3), username and password. If you did not specify these parameters, select the “Anonymous” item. And then click “OK“.
Done! You have connected to one Android smartphone or tablet from another.
You can now fully manage your files: view, edit or delete. I am sure you will need this manual. If you have any questions, you can ask them in the comments.
