How to use Google Drive in 6 steps:
1. Create a Gmail account
Go to the Gmail website and register a username and password. Ready. Remember, if you already have a Google email account, you don’t need to create another one. Just enter the website and enter your access data.
2. Log into the Google Drive website
Click the “Access Google Drive” button. You will be directed to a screen very similar to the Windows “My Documents” folder. On the left side of the screen you will have all the necessary sections to guide your navigation.
- My Drive: This is where all the documents you create inside Google Drive or save to the cloud will be.
- Computers: Shows all computers that are synced to your Google Drive.
- Shared with Me: this tab will hold all files that other people share with you via Google Drive.
- Recent: All files you have recently accessed will be in this tab.
- Google Photos: Photos you receive via email or Google Hangout will all appear here.
- With Star: here are all the files that you mark as a favorite.
- Trash: The files you delete will appear in this location.
3. Save your files
Text files, PDF’s, presentations, spreadsheets, photos, videos, among others, just click and drag from your computer into Google Drive.
4. Share your files
Go to “My Drive” and choose the file you want to share with someone else. Right-click and select “Share“. Enter the email address of the people you want to have access to the document and click “Send“. You can also choose whether the people who will receive the document will only be able to view, comment or edit. Just click on the pencil next to the bar where you type your email addresses.
5. Download
Select the file you want to download and right click. Select the “Download” option. This way, Google Drive will download it in a format compatible with the saved file, for example: if it is a text file it will save in Word or any other program you use.
If you want to download a file in another format, first open the document, go to “File“, “Download As” and then select the type of file you want.
6. Create a New Document
To create a new file, just click on the “New” button, which is blue in the upper left of the screen. So just decide which format among the options, click and start creating normally. Once ready, if you want to share or download just follow the steps above.
