Battery is not charging

If your battery is not charging properly, you should not assume from the start that the phone or battery is damaged . The problem and solution might be simpler than you think. This is common and here we will present some useful solutions .

1. Repair the USB port yourself

The easiest and fastest solution is to repair the hardware yourself . The problem is often that the metal surface of the USB port and microUSB charger are not making proper contact, either because of the manufacturer, or because of wear. All you have to do is turn off the device , remove the battery and use something small, like a toothpick, to lift the USB port. Take care and put the battery back in the phone.

2. Remove lint and dust

Get your phone in your pants pocket ? If the answer is yes , then dust and lint may be the problem. A compressed air tube can clean the port and the charger will return to normal.

3. Replace the cable

The most sensitive part of the charger is the cable , not the adapter. Replace the cable with any other USB cable for a pleasant charging experience .

4. Find out if the problem is the adapter

If the cable does not seem to be the problem, check the adapter . In many cases, the USB port becomes weak after multiple uses . You should also check if there is a problem with your outlet.

5. Replace the battery

After a few years, your battery will start to lose weight . The more you upload and download, the weaker it will be. If the battery fails after only six months , then you must use the warranty to replace it, but if it has been more than two years , then it probably needs to be replaced . Some batteries will start to swell and flow out of them. You may not see such obvious signs , but in this case you need to go and buy a replacement .

6. Upload from another source

Charging to an outlet  will always be faster than charging to a PC or laptop . If your phone is charging too slowly and you are connected to your laptop, try charging directly from the socket. If this doesn’t help, check if the charger is right for your phone . A charger from another phone may not work as well.

7. Software update

New versions of Android  and software updates can wreak havoc on your battery life, especially when you upgrade an older device . If this is your case, consider a revert to an older version of Android. Similarly, sometimes battery life can be improved by an upgrade, which can be done by going to Settings -> About phone .

8. Turn off the phone

Using applications that use a lot of battery, you will affect the battery charging speed . If you charge your phone while talking on Skype  and use  100% brightness , it will take a lot longer to charge your phone. Put the phone in airplane mode , or turn it off whenever you want to charge it, and you’ll see a significant difference.

9. Calibrate the battery

Sometimes the battery level estimated by the device is wrong . Because of this, your phone may limit certain functions when not required, or show 2% battery life for several hours. For this problem you will need to calibrate the battery of your phone.

10. Damage due to water

If your phone no longer charges after you drop it in the water , your options are limited . The safest solution is to replace your battery if possible.
