Did you mistakenly delete your iPhone messages? With this tutorial we will show you how to recover deleted messages on iPhone .
Have you lost or deleted important messages from your iPhone? Don’t worry, there are three ways to recover deleted messages from an iPhone: using iCloud , using iTunes, and using a third-party application . We will walk you through this method step by step to recover deleted messages from your iPhone.
Indeed, you may be able to do this without resorting to anything more difficult than recovering from the backup we recommend iTunes. And in the worst case, you may be able to retrieve those messages using a third-party application.

Retrieve messages from iCloud
If you’ve ever backed up your iPhone to iCloud or iTunes, you should be able to recover your iPhone messages from the backup.
- Sign in at https://icloud.com with your Apple ID and password
- Click Text Messages (if there are no messages no backups have been created
- If they are there, look for the messages you need.
- Now go to iPhone and choose Settings , iCloud on iPhone.
- Disable text messages (or make sure they are disabled). I know it sounds counterintuitive, but do it.
- You will see a pop-up. Select: ” Keep on My iPhone “.
- Now go back to the messages.
- After a few minutes, deleted messages should appear back on the iPhone.
You can also try to restore your iPhone from an iCloud backup if you made one before deleting messages. Check Settings > General > Storage & iCloud Usage > Manage Storage .
Retrieve messages with iTunes
Don’t worry if it didn’t work with iCloud. We have two additional options to try. First, let’s try to recover deleted messages through an iTunes backup. This can often be the best way.
Unless you turn off auto-sync in iTunes, you must have created a backup every time you sync with your PC or Mac.
- Connect your iPhone to the PC you’re syncing with. iTunes should open (if not, open manually)
- You should see your iPhone. Select it
- Now choose ” Restore backup “
- All the data you previously copied will now replace the data on the phone. It will take a few minutes. As long as you did not back up these messages, they should now appear on your phone.
Recover deleted messages on iPhone using a third-party application
If none of the above options worked, it’s time to go to third-party applications. Well, it can cost you some money and there is no guarantee that it will work.
I didn’t use any of them, but there are some third-party apps that seem to have a good reputation online: PhoneRescue by iMobie , Enigma Recovery , WonderShare Dr.Fone for iOS , iMyFone D-Back Data and Tenorshare iPhone Data Recovery .
Because, even after you delete the messages, they remain on the phone until they are overwritten, you should be able to recover deleted messages using these utilities (even others) but there are no guarantees.
