YouTubers may see a decline in subscriber numbers shortly. On the video platform, spam accounts are deleted.

YouTube: Spam accounts can lower subscription numbers

Some creators are increasing their subscribers’ numbers by using so-called spam profiles to subscribe to their own channel or buy related services. The company, which is owned by Google, regularly checks its video platform for correspondingly striking profiles and deletes them.

A recent issue that has since been resolved has resulted in spam accounts being undetected and not deleted. On December 13 and 14, 2018, because of the previous issues, YouTube has systematically wiped out all detected spam profiles, which could impact the YouTube subscribers. This was announced by the company in its help forum .

And this time again they are following the same process to remove spam accounts from youtube in 2019.

With a nondescript mix of “industry-leading technology and proprietary technology,” the company aims to remove spam subscriptions and ensure that YouTube remains a fair platform for everyone. Spam profiles subscribe to other channels besides the desired YouTube channel and post different comments with the goal of behaving like a normal user and not being targeted by the cleanup mechanisms.

There are various providers on the Internet who promise, among other things, “real YouTube subscribers“. Different monthly offers range from “from 1 subscription at  0.13 $ per subscriber” to “from 1000 subscriptions for 0.09 $ per subscriber“. For YouTube creators, subscriber numbers are critical to their revenue and a requirement for different programs. For example, you can not compete with more than 1000 subscribers to the YouTube Partner Program, where you can get support from YouTube’s Creator Support team and monetize your videos.

Whether a channel had spam subscriptions and these were removed, the operators of the respective channel learn in the coming days by an appropriate message in their YouTube Studio or Classic Creator Studio. If the cleanup drops subscribers below 1000, the creators affected will no longer be eligible for the YouTube Partner Program and will need to re-apply for the program if they meet the requirements again. Information on whether the technology used to delete spam subscribers also hits the professional providers, are currently not available.
