According to our 9to5Google friends , Google can discontinue the Android TV brand and replace it with… Google TV (interestingly, it is a brand that Google has used in the past in the platform).
“Google has made it clear to us several times that the Android brand is not going anywhere,” say the authors.
“We talked to them about it last year – make sure your phone will continue to run ‘Android’ in the near future.“
“In our opinion, Google’s love for Android and everything the brand means for the last decade of smartphone history has not been very clear.”
Rumors that Google would abandon the Android brand are not new, and started to appear a few years ago when the Android Market app store was renamed Google Play.
