How to delete or deactivate an Instagram account

If you decided to delete your Instagram account, you have two options: complete account deletion or temporary deactivation. Unfortunately, you won’t find any of these options in the Instagram app on your phone. Permanent deletion or even temporary disabling of the account is only possible via a web browser on the official Instagram website. In both cases it’s just a few clicks.

 

How to permanently delete Instagram account

1. Log in to your Instagram.com web browser from a computer or browser on any mobile device.

2. Go to Delete my account . Of course, you won’t find this option in Instagram’s settings, so go directly to the following link:  https://www.instagram.com/accounts/remove/request/permanent/

3. Answer the question by choosing the answer from the drop-down menu, why do you want to delete your Instagram account.

4. Enter your password and then click the red ” Permanently delete my account ” button.

 

How to deactivate an Instagram account

1. Log in to your account via a web browser on a computer or mobile device.

2. Go to the following link:  https://www.instagram.com/accounts/remove/request/temporary/

3. From the drop-down menu, select the reason why you want to disable the account and enter your password.

4. Now confirm by clicking ” Temporarily disable account “.

5. The account will remain deactivated until you log in again.
