WhatsApp Beta for Android now supports up to 8 people in video call

WhatsApp has increased the limit for video and audio calls from four to eight people, making it a more viable alternative to services like Messenger and Google Duo for family chats.

As revealed by WABetaInfo, the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android and iOS allows up to eight users in a single video or audio call.

However, all users need to be in the same version, so you will have to convince all your friends to download the beta or wait until the normal WhatsApp application receives the feature in the near future.

If you want to use this new feature, you and all participants will need beta version 2.20.133 for Android or 2.20.50.25 for the iOS app.

You can start a call by going to the Calls tab and choosing the participants you want or pressing the call button in a group chat of eight or fewer people.

In late March, Google raised the Google Duo’s video call capacity to up to 12 simultaneous people.
