Facebook now exports photos and videos to Google Photos – Facebook is launching a tool that will allow you to export your photos and videos from the social network to Google Photos.

This data portability tool was first introduced in Ireland in December and has since been made available to other international markets. This time the premiere takes place in the USA and Canada.

To use the feature, Facebook users will need to click on “Settings”, followed by “Your Facebook information” and then on “Transfer a copy of your photos and videos”.

Facebook will ask you to verify your password to confirm your identity to proceed. On the next screen, you can choose “Google Photos” as your destination in the “Choose destination” drop-down box that appears.

You will also need your Google account information to authenticate with the service before the transfer begins.

The tool is launched through   Facebook’s participation in the  Data Transfer Project , a collaborative effort with other technology giants.

Among the companies that belong to the project are Apple, Google, Microsoft and Twitter, which are expected to create more tools over time for users to transfer their data between online services.
