We will use an Android Nougat phone with the default Android keyboard for this tutorial, although the steps should be similar regardless of the device.

How to Turn off Autocorrect on Android
- Open the Settings menu on your phone or tablet and select Languages & Input .
- Tap Virtual keyboard under Keyboard and input methods.
- Select Android Keyboard .
- Select Text correction .
- Slide the switch next to Next-word suggestions to off.
The settings may differ if you do not use the default Android keyboard. On a Samsung Galaxy phone, for example, go to General Management , Language and Input , On-screen keyboard , Samsung Keyboard , Smart typing , and then turn off predictive text .
Disable self-correction on Android
- Open the Settings menu on your phone or tablet and select Languages & Input .
- Tap Virtual keyboard under Keyboard and input methods.
- Select Android Keyboard .
- Select Text correction .
- Slide the switch next to Auto-correction to off.
