The rear code 7 stands for a protection against temporary submersion . This means that the devices last up to 30 minutes in water that is up to one meter deep . The iPhones XS, XS Max and the iPhone 11 carry the number 8 (IP68) and are protected against permanent submersion for up to 30 minutes in a water depth of up to two meters .
