In addition, Google has stopped calling new versions of Android in honor of sweets. Instead, the company switched to license plates.
OnePlus
Last year in terms of updates was a turning point for OnePlus. OnePlus 6T went on sale with Android 9 Pie pre-installed, while OnePlus 5 and 6 models were upgraded to Pie in 2018, and OnePlus 3 and 3T only switched to Android 9 Pie in May 2019.
Most likely, OnePlus 7 Pro will be one of the first to receive Android 10, and then OnePlus 6 and 6T should be updated to “dozens”. It is not known what will happen to OnePlus 5 and 5T, as Recently they have already received two major operating system updates. But it’s possible that OnePlus will update them a little later.
Expected date of transition to Android 10 : Rolled out in September 2019
On September 3, 2019, the same day that the official version of Android 10 took place, OnePlus announced the open beta version of “tens” for OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. And although it was hard to call a full-fledged transition, we had every reason to believe that the Android 10 Pie update will be coming soon.
The day after the announcement, September 4, 2019, the company announced that OnePlus 6 and 6T will be updated to the top ten by the end of this month. OnePlus has also released open beta versions for its two other smartphones.
Samsung
Unfortunately, Samsung has not yet announced which smartphones the company will be able to upgrade to Android 10. Last year, almost 30 mobile devices of the company switched to Android Pie. In addition, Samsung clearly adhered to its development plan and did not delay the release of the update. Although some smartphones, such as Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 9, were able to upgrade to Android Pie only at the end of January.
As for the transition to the “top ten”, most likely Samsung will also release a detailed development plan. It’s possible that Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10 will not be able to upgrade to Android 10 until next year, and other devices will receive an update even later.
According to unconfirmed information, T-Mobile has already started testing the Android 10 set for the Galaxy S10 and Note 10 lines. If this is true, the transition to the “top ten” may occur much earlier this year.
Expected date of Android 10 upgrade : January 2020
nokia
In 2018, Nokia updated almost all of its flagship smartphones to Android Pie. Some cheaper models had to wait until 2019. However, Nokia has proven how seriously it approaches the update.
As for the transition to Android 10, this will happen in five main stages. Nokia plans to start updating smartphones in the fourth quarter of 2019, and finish it in the second quarter of 2020. Most likely, the flagship models, followed by everyone else, will be among the first on Android 10.
Expected date of transition to Android 10 : October 2019
Huawei / Honor
Last year, Huawei quite unexpectedly updated its flagship to Android Pie. In addition, some of Honor’s flagship models were able to get the update. Although in 2019 this process slowed down considerably.
Unfortunately, Huawei is currently experiencing hard times. Despite the fact that the company has already announced the beta version of EMUI 10 based on Android 10, it remains to be seen whether it will be available worldwide or only in China. Huawei promised to upgrade to “dozens” of flagships and some devices under the Honor brand, but this happened before the start of the trade war with the United States. Therefore, at the moment it is difficult to say what the company is waiting for and what are its plans to update.
Expected date of transition to Android 10 : November 2019
Xiaomi
Surprisingly, on September 3, 2019, it turned out that Xiaomi will release Android 10 for Redmi K20 Pro. If you believe the words of Mishael Rahman from XDA-Developers, so far the update is only available in China. Nevertheless, Xiaomi should soon release a global update.
Motorola
Despite the fact that in 2018 Motorola released Android Pie for most of its smartphones, the process itself took a long time and ended only in December 2018. Another bad news is that Motorola first released an update for mid-range smartphones, and only then to the flagship Moto Z3.
That is why we have every reason to believe that this year Motorola will adhere to a rather unusual development plan. Most likely, Android One devices will be first ported to Android 10, and then all the rest.
Expected date of transition to Android 10 : November 2019
Sony
Despite the rapid increase in sales, S o ny tries to closely monitor all trends in the industry and release all updates for its smartphones on time. The situation did not change much in 2018, when just before Thanksgiving the company released updates for its flagship Xperia XZ1 and XZ2.
Therefore, we have no reason to believe that this year Sony will change habits and “delay” the transition to Android 10. As usual, flagships will receive the update first, followed by other devices of the company.
Expected date of transition to Android 10 : October 2019
LG
Unfortunately, LG with updates is not as smooth as we would like. Last year, the company was able to transfer its devices to Android Pie only in January 2019. In addition, the US version was updated to May 2019.
Unfortunately, we are not sure that the story will not repeat itself with Android 10. Including smartphones such as G8 and V50 equipped with powerful equipment. Therefore, do not count on the fact that any LG smartphone will go to the “top ten” by the end of 2019.
Expected date of Android 10 upgrade : January 2020
HTC
In 2018, HTC reached a new level when it released Android Pie for only one of the smartphones. HTC U12 Plus was not able to upgrade to Pie until June, and then the U11 and U11 Plus models got an update.
Therefore, most likely a similar situation will happen with Android 10. One of the first to go to the “top ten” is U11 Life, by the end of 2019. Already in 2020, the company can announce its new flagship projects.
Expected date of transition to Android 10 : November 2019
Asus
To update his smartphone to Pie, Asus spent a lot of time. However, the changes affected almost all of the company’s devices. For many it was a really pleasant surprise. Some thought Asus would not update Zenfone 4 to Pie, but a beta version of Pie was released for him as early as June this year.
Most likely, a similar situation will happen with Android 10, and updates will be released no earlier than December 2019. Most importantly, Asus should not refuse to transfer all its smartphones to the “top ten”.
Expected date of transition to Android 10 : December 2019
Oppo
Last year Oppo was pretty cool, releasing updates for its devices. By March, they announced a ColorOS skin based on Android Pie. In China, it became available first on Reno smartphones, and then on some others (albeit in beta).
We don’t know why Oppo has been updating its smartphones to Pie for so long. But, most likely, a similar situation will occur for Android 10, and the transition will take place no earlier than in 2020.
Expected date of transition to Android 10 : April 2020
vivo
Technically speaking, Vivo kept its promise to upgrade its smartphones to Android Pie by the end of 2018. However, in many cases it was rather beta versions, and stable sets were released until March. Oddly enough, not all Vivo devices have been updated to Android Pie.
Given this unusual approach of the company to release updates, most likely stable versions of Android 10 will be available only next year. On the other hand, Vivo X27 is already taking part in tens tests, so some smartphones will be able to be updated before the end of 2019.
Expected date of transition to Android 10 : March 2020
Realm
Realme appeared on the market in 2018, when he introduced a huge number of different smartphones. The company has made every effort to ensure that all updates are released on time. However, until May we were unable to see the stable version of Android Pie. For many, this is a really serious problem.
We sincerely hope that this time Realme will update its smartphones to Android 10 much faster than the Pie version. Since Realme 3 Pro is taking part in tens of tests, stable versions of Android 10 can be released until May 2020. However, it is worth considering that Realme is a relatively new but actively developing brand.
Expected date of transition to Android 10 : May 2020
