Most downloaded apps – The battle between messenger apps promises to be the most fierce in 2021. In January, WhatsApp updated the app’s terms of service, forcing users to share their information with Facebook .

The bronze medal of the ranking went to the Chinese app TikTok . It has been showing significant growth in several markets, especially in the United States. The young audience makes up the largest active portion of the service, which gives developers good prospects for the coming months.
The fourth position went to the Indian app MX TakaTak. Success in India, the application works in a similar way to TikTok – the similar name is not a mere coincidence – but for now it has not yet taken off in other markets, such as UK or the United States.
The fifth position was with Facebook. This placement can be seen from two perspectives: while on the one hand the social network is still the most used service worldwide, on the other hand the number of downloads has been dropping year after year, in what may be an indication of stagnation.
The sixth position was with WhatsApp. The messenger who often occupied the top three positions this time was placed far below average. The reversal of measures related to the terms of use may slow this drop and represent a recovery in the next month.
The seventh position went to Instagram, another app that has been suffering from the growth of competitors, especially TikTok . Despite this, in countries such as Brazil, the platform remains on the rise, being increasingly sought after by people of all ages.
It is worth mentioning that the list prepared by Sensor Tower does not take into account the games, only the other types of applications. In addition, apps downloaded in China are also not counted.
