How to find hidden Facebook messages on Android

How to find hidden Facebook messages on Android – One of the ways Facebook protects your privacy is by creating two separate inboxes for messages. One of them is for regular messages that are from potential (or actual) friends. The second inbox is similar to the spam folder – it contains hidden messages from people who aren’t your friends who the social media platform thinks you don’t know.

Facebook does not delete these messages. It won’t send you a notification to let you know about new messages in this hidden inbox, so it’s worth checking back periodically. Here’s how to do it with the Facebook Messenger app for Android.

If Facebook believes you know someone based on connections with your current friends, it will deliver a new message from that person as a contact request. If there is no evidence that you know the sender, Facebook sends it to the spam box.

However, as with algorithms, they may not work well enough – and a potentially important message, or from someone you know, may end up in the trash.  This way, you can read hidden messages from Facebook Messenger directly on your Android device . Here’s how!

  • Click on your profile picture on the top left
  • Choose Message Requests
  • You will find two different categories: You may know and spam

In the You may know category you will find messages from people with whom you have mutual friends or initial group conversations, someone who is not your friend , but to whom you have been invited.

In spam you will find all the messages that Facebook thinks would irritate you , from ads to messages from people with whom you have absolutely nothing in common.
