Telegram now supports video calling on Android – Telegram has announced a new update for the Android application, which will allow you to initiate video calls . Given that in 2020 there has been a strong emphasis on connectivity and most messaging applications offer video calling, Telegram will soon be catching up with its competitors.

Although WhatsApp is much more popular, the Telegram application has its strengths: support for multiple platforms, personalization, private messages and chats, various animated and static stickers , among many others. And the video calling feature is definitely good news for those who use this app.

Thus , starting with August 16 , Telegram users for Android, including those in Romania , received the update that includes the video call function. The app also supports the picture- in-picture feature , so you can check your notifications and retrieve other messages while you’re on a call without being disturbed or interrupted.

To initiate a video call on Telegram you must:

  • open the conversation and
  • then select from the Video Call menu .

Unlike WhatsApp, Telegram does not have a dedicated call conversation button. But that doesn’t mean it’s more difficult or prevents you from making calls.

In the future, Telegram also promises a group call or conference function . However, for the time being, the users of this application can fully enjoy, in Romania, the calling function.
